Pile load testing during early works and pile height and earthworks design during construction
Pile Testing through to Design|New Zealand

Pile load testing during early works and pile height and earthworks design during construction

During the early works stage of a 250 MW solar farm on the North Island of New Zealand, EMRO completed a pile testing campaign that consisted of lateral and vertical load testing, saturation testing and extensive drivability testing. This detailed campaign validated tracker foundation design and gave the piling contractor confidence to accept the project ground risk. Once the project progressed into design EMRO was engaged to complete the pile height and earthworks design for the project. The design seamlessly blended tracker OEM tolerances, civil design, hydrology and contractor install preferences, all whilst limiting earthworks. EMRO continue to support the EPC and install contractors through construction.

EPC Project Management of a utility scale solar farm

EPC Project Management of a utility scale solar farm

On behalf of a major EPC contractor EMRO project managed the construction and commissioning of a 100MW solar farm in rural Victoria. The scope encompassed all aspects of project management from estimating, secondary consents, management plans, procurement and sub-contractor management, construction, commissioning, financial performance, grid connection and head contract management. The project was delivered on time and under budget.

Expert construction advice in the development stage

EMRO performed desktop studies and development consultation for a 320 MW Solar Farm with DC coupled BESS under development in southern NSW. EMRO prepared desktop studies to derisk development including an earthworks analysis using EMRO's proprietary program; this analysis identified layout optimisation opportunities that reduced bulk earthworks onsite by 40%. Utilising in house experience and leveraging industry contacts EMRO also prepared a high level project budget for the developer to utilise in their LTESA submission.

Validating pile capacity and mitigating construction risks
Constructability Assessment & Pile Testing|Victoria

Validating pile capacity and mitigating construction risks

EMRO performed a static pile load testing program — lateral, uplift and saturation testing — to validate foundation performance before full-scale construction began. Working closely with the tracker OEM and site geotechnical team, we identified variations in ground conditions early and fed reliable, site-specific data directly into the final pile embedment design, reducing the risk of field rework once installation was underway. EMRO also prepared a constructability report encompassing site specific risks and identifying mitigation strategies. This early risk identification allows the EPC to implement strategies and make changes to designs and programs before they are locked in saving time and money through construction.
